Video DownloadHelper Premium: is it worth it?
Updated
Premium costs €15 a year or €29 for life. It is worth it if you hit the free limit of 3 stream downloads and then one every 2 hours. If you save a few streams a week, the free tier, or a free alternative, may be enough.
Streamgrab runs in Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox on desktop. No account, no watermark.
What Premium costs and adds
Its Premium page lists two options: €15 a year, or €29 once for life. It names three things Premium adds: advanced features, maximum quality and speed, and video subtitle support. It also mentions priority support and unlimited downloads. The page does not say which exact limits go away, so check the vendor’s own free-limits help page before you pay.
The free limit
When we read the help page on 4 October 2026, free users got 3 starter advanced downloads, meaning streams, and then one every 2 hours. Direct files were not limited. A person who saves one stream a week will rarely notice. A person who saves several in an evening will.
When Premium is worth it
- You download streams most days and the 2 hour wait gets in the way.
- You want live-stream recording and format conversion, which we do not offer on the same terms.
When a free alternative is enough
Streamgrab Free saves every direct MP4 and WebM file without limit, plus HLS and DASH streams up to 720p, one at a time. There is no watermark, no account and no companion app. Pro is €29 for Lifetime or €15 for 1 year, with any quality, three downloads at once and Download all. It runs on Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. The full comparison sets the two side by side. Streamgrab keeps growing from what people ask for, and the roadmap page lists what is planned.
