Video DownloadHelper is the best-known video downloader, with about 6 million users on Chrome and 1.85 million on Firefox. Streamgrab is new, does all its work inside the browser, and puts no watermark on the video.
Facts about Video DownloadHelper were read on 4 October 2026 from its store pages, its Premium page and its help page on free limits. The watermark line rests on one review. Streamgrab is our own tool, so read the table with that in mind, and check the vendor pages before you buy.

When Video DownloadHelper is the better pick
Pick Video DownloadHelper if you want the tool most Firefox users already have. It has years of use behind it and a very large review base, it records live streams and converts formats (Streamgrab records live HLS streams on Pro only and does not convert formats), and it may handle sites we have not tested. Streamgrab is new, and its DASH support saves video and audio as one MP4, except WebM streams, which come as separate video and audio files.
